As The Page Turns - June 2017

There is something for everyone with the summer activities at the Osborne Public Library.

From the Director

Summer Library Program – We have 115 youth signed up for summer library programs this year. This is keeping the staff busy circulating books and planning programs. All programs run through the month of June. Remember grades 4-6 have programs at 10:30 on Wednesday mornings, while grades K-3 meet at 2:30 on Wednesday afternoons. Age 3 through Pre-K meet on Friday mornings at 10:30.

Firecracker Run –Start your 4th of July activities off with this fun color run that will begin at the library gazebo at 8:30 am. We will be taking a 5K route around an area north of the library. There is no cost for this event but donations are always welcome.

Movie Night Under the Stars – This event was a success to start our summer. With a little over 60 people in attendance, we had a perfect night to sit outside and watch the movie, Bad News Bears. Next movie will be in August. Stay tuned for details.

Terrific Tuesdays – The library is headed out the door to provide an outreach opportunity with the summer lunch program. Each Tuesday during the months of June and July a book and a program will be presented at the summer lunch program. Programs are located at the Osborne Elementary School lunchroom. Free lunches for children are served from 11:30-12:30. Adults can purchase a meal for $4.

Book of the Month – With the busyness of summer, the book of the month is combining the months of June and July together. The book that has been chosen is “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr. This is a Pulitzer Prize winner about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France during WWII. Call the library to reserve a copy of the book. Discussion night will be held on July 13 at 5:30.

Adult DIY Night – There are still spots available for the DIY night on June 12th. Traci Wolters has volunteered to lead this event. All participants will be making a mixed media American flag canvas. Call the library to reserve your spot.

New Books - Reminder: If you don’t see these books or another one that you might want on the shelf, ask a staff member to put a hold on the item and we can get it in from another library for you.
