As The Page Turns - April 2018

Spring has arrived!! - The library is getting ready to spruce up the inside of the building with a renovation project that will see the library undergoing a major transformation. All the walls will be receiving a new coat of paint and plaster and paint will be put over the cloth that is on the walls. Things will be a little dusty and smelly but we aren’t closing the doors. Just know that when you stop by for a visit, you will be walking into a work zone. There will be NO children’s programs during the month of April due to the renovations.

Pi(e) Day – Lots of people attended Pi(e) Day on 3.14. 42 scrumptious pies were donated for the event to be bought by the pie lovers in the community. This successful event will help fund some of the musical events that the library is promoting in the community for the summer library program, “Libraries Rock!”

Northern Plains League Art Show – The league art show wrapped up on the 27th of March. 223 pieces of art were on display from ten schools in the Northern Plains League. The library will get to host this event again in 2020.

Book of the Month – The book of the month for April is “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas. This book is about Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter who moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend. This book is relevant to the headline news topics that we are hearing so much about. If you would like to read this book, contact the library to get a book. The discussion for this book will be held on April 26, 2018 at 5:30pm at the library.

Summer Library Program – The summer library program for 2018 will be Libraries Rock! Enrollment forms will be available beginning May 1st. You will be able to sign up your child at the library or online.

Movie Under the Stars – The first movie under the stars for 2018 will be on Friday, May 4th. The theme will be “May the Fourth Be With You.” Mark your calendar for a fun filled Star Wars evening.
