August 2020 As The Page Turns

The Osborne Public Library is still striving to offer services to our patrons during this time of the COVID19 situation. We offer copying, faxing and scanning services. Our computer stations are open and you can always find something to read in the library.

Movie Night – On August 13th, you can enjoy a movie under the stars at the library. The featured film will be the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Showtime will begin around 8:45 pm and the movie will run one hour and 40 minutes. Bring a chair or blanket, some bug spray, and some snacks and enjoy the outdoor movie.

Story Hour – Story Hour will look a little different this fall. For the month of September, the library will do a virtual story time. Each Friday in the month of September a video will be posted on the library Facebook and webpage of Miss Susan reading a story. There will be an activity packet at the library for the kiddos to pick up and complete after the story.

Enrollment for Story Hour will begin on August 15th. The library staff is trying to get things in place to have Story Hour in person, starting in October. This is plan is always subject to change. Depending on the enrollment numbers, we may have to add a third session of story hour. It will be important to get your child signed up so we can plan accordingly.

There will be no after school programs (WAC or Tweens) at this time.

Library Procedures – The library community room is still closed to the public. We are filling holds for patrons from libraries across the state. We do have to quarantine the books for 4 days when they come into the library but we are striving to get things to patrons in a timely manner. We have discontinued our daily newspapers until the middle of September and all of our magazines are behind the counter now. If you would like to check out a magazine or look at one, please ask a staff member. Our eLibraries have been a good source to get many items to our patrons. If you would like to access the Sunflower eLibrary, Hoopla, the Cloud Library or RB digital books, the library staff would be happy to help you access the account that you wish to download from.

Mobile Hot Spots – The library has three mobile hot spots that can be checked out for a week at a time. If you are taking a little vacation or just going to the lake and know that you would like a little internet time, stop by and check out a hot spot to help you connect while you aren’t at home.

Our hours are, M & Th – 10-7, Tu, W, F – 10-5 and Sat. 10-2. The library is closed on Sundays.

The online card catalog can be accessed from our website, http://www.ospublib.com or at https://osborne.catalog.ckls.org

The library is a wireless hotspot provided by Nex-Tech.
